While the automotive repair industry raises concern about the lack of young technicians in the industry, Standard Motor Products is reaching out to young technicians and potential technicians to educate them and help them grow into a productive career repairing vehicles.

As part of a monthly focus group, the SMP Corporate Training Center, provides training to a group of young technicians and potential techs.  This month, Christopher Jongsma, a Technician Training Developer, trained a group ranging in age from 13-26 on diagnosing and repairing diesel emission systems.  By engaging with this group, they are interested in what the industry has to offer them, and gives the ones already working in the industry, information that they can use in the shop the following day.
