SMP & Its Employees Raise over $120,000 for Ukraine Relief Effort

When it comes to helping others, SMP employees rise to the challenge!  In response to the situation in Ukraine, our employees have generously donated over $60,000 to 2 organizations: United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees & the International Rescue Committee.  SMP is matching all donations, which bring our total to over $120,000!!

International Rescue Committee (IRC)

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is working with partners in Poland and inside Ukraine to support the evacuation of women and children and provide emergency aid to people who were forced to flee their homes.

Specifically, the IRC is providing the following:

  • Psychological care for displaced women and children
  • Groceries, blankets, warm clothes, stoves, and other essentials to displaced families
  • In Poland, the IRC is working through partners to provide refugees with legal support and translation services, as well as cash assistance
  • For health teams operating at border crossing points and refugee reception centers, the IRC is providing essentials including sleeping bags and medical equipment

United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is on the ground in Ukraine providing emergency relief and cash assistance to those most vulnerable. Many of those who have been internally displaced are women and children. So far, our financial assistance has helped provide blankets, sleeping mats, food, medicine, and emergency shelters.

To date, the UNHCR has helped safely welcome the first flights of Ukrainian refugees to European countries by prioritizing the most vulnerable refugees: people with disabilities, people with critical medical conditions, mothers with infants or young children, separated children and more.

Thank you to our generous SMP employees.  We will continue to update on our donation efforts!
