As part of a partnership with Dallas Independent School Districts, SMP hosts groups of middle school students who visit the Corporate Training Center in Irving. These groups of 25 students get a tour of the facility and get a brief overview of some of the jobs performed there, such as customer service/tech line phone operator, photographer, trainer, office personnel, and auto technician.
The students get to hear the career path from a person in each department with the hope that they might someday find their own career path in the automotive world. The students also break into various groups and rotate through workstations to learn about Electric Vehicles, Tire Pressure Monitor Systems, Turbos, and Air Conditioning.
As with typical middle school events – their favorite part is the pizza lunch!
