On May 18th, SMP Cares LIC volunteered for the fourth year clearing weeds at Gantry Plaza State Park! The team working tirelessly in the salt marshes along Newtown Creek removing invasive catchweed, thistle, mugwort as well as other species that are not native to the area.  In clearing these weeds, it is now possible for the parks department to plant grasses and flowers that help preserve the shoreline and fight the erosion that happens after large storms.

Please see the before and after below!

Thank you to everyone who volunteered, your efforts are greatly appreciated!
