Pumpkin Decorating Contest | Independence

Two weeks before Halloween, the DEI team announced a Pumpkin Decorating Contest for employees to participate in as teams of four. We had 16 teams sign up!

The pumpkin decorating contest had five categories you could try to win: Jovial Jack O’Lantern (funniest), Ghoulish Gourd (scariest), One of a Kind Crop (most original), Pretty in Pink (breast cancer awareness), and Pick of the Patch (best overall).

On Halloween, all teams had to have their pumpkin/displays set up in the lunchroom by 8am. Following set up, all employees were allowed to vote one time on a ballot, and then turn it in to HR to be counted. Once they had turned in their ballot, they received a pumpkin “I voted” sticker to wear all day! The ballots were counted on November 1st and we had a gathering in the lunchroom over afternoon break to announce who won each category.

It was a very fun and creative event, everyone who participated went above and beyond the DEI team’s expectations, and we cannot wait to do this event again next year!
