This past January 17th SMP LIC held an early spring cleaning. All employees were encouraged to take some time out of their work day to spruce up their work space and organize the office. Contests were held in several categories including largest improvement of work space (before and after). Everyone did an amazing job organizing their desks but Juan Vasquez showed off his superior organizational skills, turning his into the picture of clean.
Even Larry got into the spirit, cleaning out multiple framed photos and works of art from his office. At his direction we held an impromptu Silent auction, generating $230 dollars for a local foodbank/community Fridge program Astoria Fridge.
Astoria Fridge operates over 50 fridges in New York City. They provide fresh, free accessible food to the Astoria community 24 hours a day.
If you would like to get involved with Astoria Fridge or help out in any way, you can help either individually by stocking and maintaining the Fridge or join their group on Slack, where they are actively organizing the Fridge. If interested in joining Slack, please DM on Instagram @Astoriafridge or email them at astoriafridge@gmail.com or astoriaminifridge@gmail.com.
Thank you to everyone for their involvement in both the cleaning effort and the charitable fund raising!
