Love Independence Week | Independence

House Painting: A team of 22 people volunteered to re-paint, clean windows, and landscape the house of a gentleman who is going through cancer treatments. This project was a partnership with Community Mission for Improved Housing. CMIH is an organization in Independence that tries to help those in need by doing this. The SMP Cares team had a great time doing this project and the end result was wonderful! Our Maintenance guys built a new porch, too! Total volunteer hours = 201!

Birthday Boxes: The SMP Cares team also took on the project of putting together birthday boxes for kids that are in Foster Care. This is a very special project because many of these kids and teens don’t get birthday gifts or parties, often their birthdays get overlooked or forgotten about. Our team had a lot of fun finding items like birthday decorations, gifts, cake mixes, napkins, plates, bubbles, etc. to fill the boxes!  We hope the kids love them!
